I was quite pleased to find a new Asian buffet opening locally, seeing as the other closest one (Hibachi Grill) had seemed to be becoming rather apathetic due to it's lack of real competition. I went to Teppanyaki Grill with my wife and 1 year old daughter quite soon after it had opened and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of food, not bad at all, in fact, rather good. The selection was more varied than I'd expected with hot clams and hot crayfish, blue crab, spare ribs, frogs legs, a hibachi station at the rear of the restaurant, sushi bar and a selection of western style dishes and salad. The sushi on my first visit was especially good. The atmosphere however was somewhat lacking, hovering between that of an airport waiting lounge and a hospital cafeteria. There was no music playing and people seemed to only talk in whispers. The hostesses and servers were surly to say the least and not in the slightest welcoming. Admittedly it was Halloween night and I had dressed up my 1 year old as Yoda, maybe that was the issue and the reason we were sat in the very back of the restaurant, maybe it was because the place was new and still finding it's feet. I hoped and knew I'd give it another try. My next visit (I've been there four times in total and the last time was certainly my last ever!!) was a few weeks later, again with wife and daughter. The hostess station is around 50 ft from the door, quite a long walk when you have two teenage girls scowling at you the whole way as you cross the floor. Not a hint of a smile, two raised eyebrows and a sneered "For three?" followed by a "How old?" and a nod toward the very diminutive one year old girl in my arms. Then a disbelieving look as if we were trying to scam a free dinner for our daughter. Nice welcome. We were marched to the naughty area (the back corner of the restaurant reserved for thieves, liars and those who dare bring children out to eat) to sit alone and as far away from the buffet as possible. The food this time was not as good. The same selection basically but it had obviously sat around much longer, the ribs were dry and a little cold, the frog legs stodgy and the sushi completely different, filled with creamed crab, cream cheese and tinned tuna. This time there was music, you could here it when, simultaneously, there was a pause in conversation and everyone stopped clinking their cutlery. If you tried real hard. Third visit, food was better, service the same as before. On the long march to the back seating area I stopped and asked to be seated elsewhere, such as the empty booth 10 steps from the buffet, the booth that had two more empty booths either side of it. My horrendously well behaved, quiet and smiley baby surely couldn't offend anybody here? The look of shock at my disobedience was almost comical. Almost the exact same thing occurred on my fourth, and final, visit. This time the host was a young man not in the restaurant uniform, rather just a shabby t-shirt and slacks. Looking more like he should be taking out the trash than hosting tables. Again I had to ask to be seated further forward and again the strange look of shock. This time however we were treated to the luxury of being allowed to retain our dirty plates at the table and no refills on our drinks. All while two waitresses stood about 8ft away gossiping together. The baby chair took an age to turn up and was slammed down unceremoniously without a word. The food had dipped below average again, the sushi worse than ever. It seemed to be fake crab and cream cheese pureed together and then spread over rice as the main filling or topping. Another looked for all the world like sliced fish sticks in the center of the roll. The carving ham had been replaced with smoked sausage and the smell of the crayfish made me gag. The hibachi station was unmanned and the sushi chef couldn't even be bothered to acknowledge dollars being placed in his tip jar. The icing for me were the dirty looks from the waiting staff given to my daughter as she politely and at a low volume waved and said bye bye to each of them she passed. One girl even snorted and turned her back. I know I have harped on about the service here and my own personal offence to it, but remember, this is a BUFFET restaurant. There should be relatively little customer contact and they can't even get that right. Bad staff attitudes and poor customer relations and the ambiance of a retirement home does not lead to a good dining experience. The food is hit and miss, when it's good it's not bad at all. When it's bad, it's pretty dismal. The space is just too big for a comfortable restaurant, nothing has been done to it to make it feel comforting. Save your money and time and go to Hibachi Grill instead. *should revise that Teppenyaki is now called Fujiyama and that Hibachi has now closed down. **Further revision, Hibachi has reopened as Fortune Buffet.

Other than the name change to Fujiyama, the food was excellent! I ate till I was miserable and enjoyed every bit of it!

I have been here numerous time now and to me it is pretty good. This is not a five star restaurant it is a buffet. It is $10.99 for adults 3-7 years old about $5.50 and 8-13 years about $8.00. Drinks cost $2.00 additional each person. The sushi is made for a buffet. Don't expect top of the line sushi for the price you pay. For me and my family we love that they have sushi. There is a good selection of asian food, and american food. I love the dessert station, coffee cake and chocolate pudding are my favorites. The staff seems to be replenishing the food all the times that my family and I have been there. So, 4 stars for the restaurant! It is open and big, good selection of food and the decor is pleasing to the eyes. Good restaurant for a family lunch or dinner!

Great selection of many different items. It is really well done. Love all the fresh sushi and the hibachi grill. Also there are chicken fingers and pizza for the little ones.

This place was super greasy and gross. When we went, it was an hour before closing and the sushi chef had already left, the hibachi grill person had already cleaned the grill, and the food had stopped getting refilled. The service wasn't great either.

This place has probably 12-14 tables of food to choose from. The problem is only 2-3 tables actually have "Asian" food. The rest is food you could get at any other restaurant. The past two times I have gone here, I have regretted it. My wallet regretted it and my stomach regretted it. Probably won't return.

This is one of the better buffets I have been to. It has a lot of good food. The only real issue I found was the signs being not in the proper places. For someone who doesn't eat Chinese that often it may pose as a problem. The sushi was fresh and kept cold as it should be. The set up was professional and elegant. The staff was very attentive. We will definitely be eating here again.

Place was very nice. Food was not good. Just was too Buffet-y. Pretty flavorless. Did not enjoy. Will not retun.

As I'm writing this review (Saturday, October 27, 2012), this place has only been open for 5 DAYS!! It is located on Coliseum Blvd, where the old Circuit City Store used to be, next door to Dick's Sporting Goods. It has the usual Chinese, Japanese, American cuisine with some items not found at any other Asian buffets locally. Their sushi selection was very good. I found tobiko (flying fish egg topped rice wrapped in seaweed), red-snapper (kurodai), shrimp, California rolls (avocado, imitation crab, and cucumber), New York rolls, Philadelphia rolls (Philadelphia cream cheese, salmon, cucumber, and onion), and various other rolls. I missed unagi (eel) and maguro (tuna). I found some unusual items: small clams in a clear, slightly sweet sauce, "Hong Kong Chicken" (breaded fried chicken pieces in a sauce that reminded me of sweet & sour but had a slight spicy kick), "BBQ Chicken" (de-boned, baked, very moist and tasty, which reminded me of pressed chicken), "Treasure Shrimp" (whole stuffed shrimp), edamame (boiled whole soybean pods), "Coconut shrimp" (couldn't see/taste any coconut, but this would be called "walnut shrimp" or "honey shrimp" elsewhere). They are open 7 days a week. Lunch hours are: M-F 11AM-3:30PM, Sat 11AM-3:30PM, Adults: $6.89, Kids less than 2yo:Free, 3-9yo $3.50, 7-10yo: $4.50. Dinner hours are M-Th 3:30PM-10:00PM, Fri & Sat 3:30PM-10:30PM, Sun 11AM-9:30PM, Adults: $9.89, Kids less than 2: Free, 3-9yo: $4.75, 7-10yo: $5.75. This place seems to have its act pretty well together for its first week of business. I'll be back soon and will report more!

Tried both of the big Asian buffets in this area on a recent business trip and this one definitely was the winner. Food was fresh hot refilled even though I was there relatively late, around 8:30. Still a good selection of sushi, also fresh. Loved the clams, crawfish, but everything I tried was at least decent or better. Service was good, though, it's a buffet, not much service expected. So why only 3 stars? Same reason, it's a buffet, with it's inherent limitations.

For a buffet this place is pretty good. The sushi is better than expected. Lots of selection and a very clean. We will certainly come again.

I walked in the door for the first time and was very impressed.....Until I ate the food! No matter what the entree was, it was all lukewarm to cold! The fish was cold and rubbery. The choices they offered where well, left me in wonderment, was this stuff new, or was it misspelled? Anyway there was this "mystery" dessert I wasnt sure what it was! Right nestled between the banana pudding and strawberries, was this "stuff" kinda looked liked muscles, kinda looked like snails, but all I know was it kinda looked out of place on a dessert table and looked like HELL!! As I walked up to the check out counter, the gentleman asked me how everything was and I plain out said TERRIBLE! I told him absolutely nothing was hot, he asked me what in particular and I said EVERYTHING!, he asked compaired to last time? I said this was my FIRST time, and LAST time here! He told me he was sorry and would mention this to his boss. No offer to reduce bill, no offer for free coupon back sometime. Nothing...not even a please come back or have a nice day! Oh yea,one other thing,or waiter Danny, spent more time on his iphone than he did on his job. One lady brought our drinks, another took our dirty plates, and good old Danny never ever came back to refill our drinks or check in on us, until it was time to give us our checks...Well good old Danny never got a tip either! So my advice dont bother going here, there are much better Chinese Buffets in this town at much lower prices! $28.00 (drinks and tx included) for 2 was a little when one should of been a senior)

Great buffet. Not good if you are on a diet. You will want more and more. Sushi, crab, shrimp, stir fry, pork, chicken, pizza ... it has it all. A definitust try at least once.

Visiting from Dallas, my Chinese mom took me to what is now called Fujiyama. Majority of Asian dishes were the same taste & texture, breaded chicken & a sweet & sourish sauce with different names. Almost EVERY dish had the incorrect name on it. Frog legs were chicken wings, shrimp "delite" was breaded chicken, mussels were fish, etc. Some were 3 or 4 items in one section with 2 or 3 of them correctly named but in the wrong order (not in front of the actual dish). Cold shrimp was visibly not deveined, gross. The sushi chef blew his nose in the preparation area. TOTAL loss of appetite. I wouldn't even get any, after that visual. The egg rolls were commercial & rubbery. The majority of the food was nasty tasting (rubbery/tough, cold). Nasty as in beyond not tasting good, like possible food poisoning. Mom had a coupon that advertised lobster & crab on Friday, Saturday & Sundays, prime rib & rib eye steak. None of these items was on the buffet. When I inquired I was told they had run out. Next time the girl told me. There was a sign in the restaurant that had a senior price & another that said all the crab you could eat for $3.99 more. Not true for either. When we checked out they would not take my mother's coupon for $1.00 off & said the senior price was better. I thought at least you are nice enough to point out the better deal. Then they rang it up at the full price and more. The bill was $25 and some change, 2 lunch buffets & 2 waters. Way off the lunch buffet price x 2. I argued for a minute & then thought forget it, we will never be back. I highly recommend you not eat here.

Don't waste your time of money .......I usually don't even bother with buffets but figured I would give it a shot for lunch and have heard from someone the sushi was good .....And I was skeptical of that, but thought I would give it a try.......The sushi is marketed, so you don't know what type of role you are getting, every type I tried was rubbery and stale tasting...Food from the buffet itself was no better, greasy, overcooked, and been under heat lamps way to long.......Even the "hibachi bar" that they have is bad ........If your a glutton that is looking for nothing more than packing yourself to oblivion and you have no sense of taste this may be the place for you

First off, I will say, the food was good & there were a lot of options... but, I would never go back. There was just something about the atmosphere that was in appealing to me & the worst part was that the booth I was sat in smelled like urine. Kids were running around everywhere & babies were crying... So, to say the least, it was super noisy. It was like the Walmart of Chinese Buffets.

Of course, now the place is called Fujiyama but the food is still good. It maybe a bit middle of the road for Asian food and I have heard complaints of more flavor, but it the selection is stellar. The sushi is great. The plates are hard to not fill when passing by only a few tables. I like their egg tarts. Plenty of pineapple too.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
